Earthquakes are no longer limited to only certain sections of the county:
They can happen smack dab in the middle of the US, the Northwest, and the south east.
Are you ready to run, with your pets, if you have to?
What about being stuck at home for a few days; food, water?
Even many of us who live in 'earthquake county' are not prepared to escape if we have to, and we know better.
Even if you do only one thing, even just thinking about preparation, you will be way ahead on the day that happens. it might just save your life, or your pet's.
First Responder Notice:
Lets Police & Fire know your pets are inside.
See, that was easy, good job.
Now, let's start to build an emergency kit for your pet. Then all you need to is grab and go.
You can make sure to have everything you need to take care of you pet in an emergency by preparing a pet evacuation kit:
Start with a crate or carrier that is the right size for your pet:
- Spare food
- Spare collar
- Spare leash
- Some toys
- Food bowl
- Water bowl
- Stuff for clean up: litter/poop bags
- Can opener for canned food
- Photograph of the pet, in case it gets lost
- Copy of pet’s medical records
- Copy of vaccination record
Keep this kit in a place where you can easily grab it, your pets and get out.
Don't bury it under the stairs or under a pile of stuff in the garage, the garage might not be there any more.
This a great start to preparing your family and your pets, just in case.
As you begin to build your emergency plans, it will be easier to consider what your might have to do.
Save yourself, save the ones you love most: start planning now.
